We've got a busy, but great week ahead in science. To start, we will finish up discussing the graphs you created using the layers of Earth data and you will explain what information those graphs are actually providing. Then on Tuesday, we will take some time to reflect on the goals you set in science this semester and check out some helpful ways to prepare for exams. And lastly, we will begin our first project of the year this week, by using one of the graphs you have already created to help you create a digital poster about Earth's layers. The first exam of the year will be next Tuesday (October 3rd) and will be a 3 bar Quiz on Layers of Earth. Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
This week we will finally be digging into this year's topics by checking out our first book, Inside Earth, where we will check out plate tectonics - beginning with the layers of Earth. We will also be looking at Non-Newtonian liquids and how they react when pressure is applied to them. And lastly, we will collect data to analyze how the pressure created by Earth's layers affects the temperature within the earth. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask or email Mr. Bowles. Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
Welcome back to your first full week of school! We are going to hit the ground running this week. We will start off by reviewing safety procedures in the science lab to prepare for our first lab this week. Then on Tuesday, we will take some time to review the course description (once you all have your chromebooks) and to write some goals for the first semester. And lastly, we will be conduct and review our data from the Bubble Lab. This first lab is a great way to review the scientific method and to look at different types of variables that show up in an experiment. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to email Mr. Bowles for help. Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
