Welcome back from a well deserved February break! This will be an exciting week as you check out the feedback professionals gave you on your designs that answered the question: How can a coastal city, like Boston, be redesigned to lessen the impact of bigger storms and rising sea levels?. You have worked hard on developing your ideas and it's exciting to see you get recognized for them, but also get feedback on how to further improve them. To start off the week, you will not only look at the feedback on Padlet, but you will also respond to it. Nobody (not even scientists, engineers, architects, etc) has the perfect idea - there's always something else that can make it better and this is an opportunity to do just that. Then you'll update your Google Site portfolios with all the work and feedback surrounding your designs from the past month. Before we move on to our next unit, we'll take another look at MCAS open response questions and how to structure your answers. This can be difficult, but once you learn how to break down your answer by supporting it with your evidence and reasoning then it'll get easier. After school help is available Tuesday & Thursday this week. Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
This week you will be finishing up your investigation into the question, "How can a coastal city, like Boston, be redesigned to lessen the impact of bigger storms and rising sea levels?". You have two more in-class days (including today) this week to build your design. Tomorrow is the last day to bring in any building materials you may want to use.
Friday is the due date for the whole project - meaning that your concept map, pics of your drawings & 3D model, and supporting information (and resources) will be in one digital presentation (e.g. - Google Slides, Prezi, etc.). This presentation must be uploaded to the Padlet to get feedback from professionals and to be considered "turned in". Make sure you have looked closely at the WHOLE rubric and if you have questions or concerns about the project, please let Mr. Bowles know. Don't forget, if you have NAEP testing on Thursday, you will have less in-class time than others to finish the project - make sure you're efficient with your time and you plan accordingly. After school help will be available Tuesday & Thursday this week. Stay curious and keep looking for answers! |
