Welcome back from a well deserved spring break - hope you got a lot of extra sleep and are ready to go for the tail end of the school year! This will be a light week in science class because of the English PARCC on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Our two main focuses will be to prepare for the Global Warming/Climate Change Soapbox Debate (on Friday) and to watch the movie Life According to Sam. A soapbox debate is a way for you to respectfully argue your point of view without directly debating with others. Now that you are familiar with climate change and both sides of the debate, it's time to see what YOU have to say about it. We will discuss the movie Life According to Sam in more detail throughout the week. Last time to hand-in your group's Climate Change Thinglink is Monday after school (before it's considered late). Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
Last week before April vacation - wohoo! This week we'll our investigation of the debate over global warming and climate change. You will create a Thinglink - an interactive graphic - that explains the basic ideas behind the greenhouse effect and argue both sides of the climate change debate - that tries to answer "Do humans cause global warming and climate change?". This project will be due on Friday and you will have all classes this week to work on it. Don't forget, Earth & Space MCAS quiz 1 is due on Wednesday. After school help is available Tuesday and Thursday this week. As always let me know if you have any questions. Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
This week we will continue to check out the atmosphere - specifically looking at its structure, the molecules that make it up, and how these molecules interact with the sun to transfer heat throughout the world. The next MCAS practice quiz - Physical science 1 - is posted on the website and is due on Thursday. This week is also the beginning of the fourth term, but there are number of you who still have missing assignments and you will be given until Wednesday to turn anything in before third term grades are final. Don't be in the dark! Make sure to check your grade in Powerschool so you know what to expect on your report card. There will be extra help Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school. Stay curious and keep looking for answers!
